Jennifer Mendenhall Nominated for Best Lead Actress in ELECTRA

The Helen Hayes Awards have nominated Jennifer Mendenhall as Best Lead Actress in a Resident Production for her role as Electra in the production last spring here at MetroStage. Critics described her performance as "unrelenting intensity," "an instrument of pure honed passion," "a combustive, combative performance, "a fiery interpretation...a magnificent presentation," "a consummate Electra." Mendenhall has received seven Helen Hayes nominations including this year's Electra and another nomination from the Theatre Alliance production of You Are Here. She has won one Award for Aunt Dan and Lemon (Woolly Mammoth). The Helen Hayes Awards will be presented April 17, 2006 at the Warner Theatre. Last year Bernardine Mitchell won the Best Lead Actress in a Resident Musical for her role in Mahalia at MetroStage.
