Casting for Sophocles' Electra Announced

Electra, which will open April 21, will feature Jennifer Mendenhall in the role of Electra. Ms. Mendenhall was last seen at MetroStage in Rapture, playing a sixteenth century nun in MetroStage's opening production in 2001. She recently received two Helen Hayes Award nominations for her work in Lenny and Lou and Grace, both seen at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

MetroStage receives Three Helen Hayes nominations

Helen Hayes nominations have been announced in anticipation of the May 9 Helen Hayes Awards Gala. MetroStage has received three nominations for work produced in 2004.Deb Filler, who appeared in her one woman show Filler Up!, received a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Non-Resident Production. MetroStage's recond-breaking production of Mahalia, A Gospel Musical received two nominations: Bernardine Mitchell received a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Resident Musical and William Hubbard received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Resident Musical.Mr. Hubbard is currently appearing on stage in The All Night Strut! through March 27. He and Ms. Mitchell will then reprise their roles in Mahalia at the Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia.
